Edinburgh castle
The day I filmed this was a very foggy day, and I recorded the movement of fog in the light. The spot is in front of Edinburgh castle, and the twinkling red light somehow reflects the light from the volcanic castle rock.
Union canal
The original sound I recorded in the union canal is full of the sound of construction, machine, whispering, etc. The natural sound of water flow is the only thing not belongs to this place, and I added the water sound deliberately while editing.
The meadows
I filmed the movement of grass in the meadows several times, but felt not all right and end up only using the footage of the cloud’s movement because the story is actually about water and the rain from the sky.
Duddingston loch
This is the only place I can really feel " nature" among the 7 locations. Although some of the others are also filmed in a natural place, I can still see the artificial traces. In fact, this place was once a settlement but naturally rewild.
St Margarets loch
It's also very interesting to find out the loch is an artificial one, made by the royalty. There is a recent news about how the lake is invaded by algae results from the feed to the swans. The loch was created by humans and is destroyed by the same group as well.
Holyrood
I accidentally encountered the animal footprint, shimmering on the street but disappear when cars and humans pass by, just like wild animals do. I then overlapped red squirrels' chatting voice, imaging they might appear when no one is there.
Waverley station
It's very stunning to know the place was a landfill. The story is the opposite of the meadows one, which was also a loch. I couldn’t see any traces of the evil past in this place now. I think that’s because it’s a memory people want to erase and hide.
