the natural river's name has gone

since it was canalized

the old name is not important at all

it has no need to know what it looked like before

 

we can only guess

the water flow does not change

when the union canal connects cities

the river passed through no one's lands

while the canal transported minerals

from the mines and quarries

the river moved sand and stone

between mountains and hills

 

the water flows as usual

but it's original voice can barely be heard

it is replaced by the noise and whispers

only if we wait until a quiet night

the sound of the water flow might appear again
